2021 Year In Review
Love Our Neighbor Project officially launched in April 2021 with monthly Laundry Love outreaches in Sutherlin and Roseburg. Each month more people came and received this help. In December we blessed more people with more loads of clothes than since I was involved with starting local Laundry Love back in 2015. In the fall we were able to add food bags, local grocery gift cards and special treats for the kids. In December we added camping gear, socks, gloves, winter and hygiene supplies. I posted about those two outreaches and how awesome that went. April through December we sponsored 1,794 loads of laundry for 296 families.
Then Christmas came with evening snow and suddenly we were presented with an opportunity to do more than we had ever done for our homeless community. Working with a local coordinator, over the last days of 2021 we were able to provide support in the way of food to the Sutherlin and Winston warming centers that opened up and laundry support for the Sutherlin warming center. The unhoused who gathered from different camps to a central Roseburg location to keep warm at the park were provided meals, laundry assistance, pet food and propane tank refills to get through this cold snap we are just coming out of. Over this past week Love Our Neighbor Project provided over 500 meals to our neighbors in need.
I am grateful to be able to give back to my hometown and Love Our Neighbor Project will continue to grow and serve in the coming year.
